AndStatus@Quitter.no (andstatus@quitter.no)'s status on Wednesday, 11-Jul-2018 19:57:09 UTC AndStatus@Quitter.no @kris If mean changing your profile (avatar, bio...) - no, this is not implemented in #AndStatus -
AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Sunday, 08-Jul-2018 06:08:50 UTC AndStatus @eudaimon I really found a bug with getting actors' avatars for actor, which are present in different fediverse instances. #AndStatus could mistakenly ask the wrong host for the actor's information :-( The bug is present since AndStatus started to merge logically actors (and their lists of activities) of different Social networks by their Webfinger Id. The fix will be in v.41 -

EuKombos (eudaimon@hub.disroot.org)'s status on Saturday, 30-Jun-2018 07:26:19 UTC EuKombos @andstatus Ok, I found something else, which I didn't notice yesterday: in my home timeline only my sent messages and the messsges which mention me appear. There are none from the people I "follow", though it is not an exact term in Hubzilla. In hubzilla there are relationships with different degrees of closeness, and you can chose which range you want to be shown at a certain moment. I would expect to appear all of them. However, I read somewhere a more precise description of this, and the difficulty of translating "relationships" in hubzilla to the "following" and "followed by" concepts and uses of other networks. For example, hubzilla has this thing called nomadic identity, which allows to have two accounts in different servers to behave exactly as if they were the same. I am quite new to Hubzilla, so I can't explain in detail what this exactly means, or understand the implications for a client such as #Andstatus -
EuKombos (eudaimon@hub.disroot.org)'s status on Friday, 29-Jun-2018 17:56:33 UTC EuKombos Currently I have seen two bugs in @andstatus: avatars for the different accounts on the left bar do not always appear, which makes chosing an account a guess (it usually appears the default avatar). I manage currently 3 accounts: this hubzilla one, a mastodont and a GNU Social. Currently only the hubzilla account shows its avatar correctly. The other bug is a permanent temp message on top of hubzilla home timeline (not in other networks). -
EuKombos (eudaimon@hub.disroot.org)'s status on Saturday, 26-May-2018 18:03:09 UTC EuKombos Does anyone know if it is possible to use decently any Android client with Hubzilla? I have tried Twidere, following some instructions (Add a Twitter account, change server to https://[hub URL]/api, change auth method to Basic), but does not work well: it does fetch account name and avatar, but it force-closes the app when trying to refresh home timeline. With Andstatus, I just couldn't add an account for this node (hub.disroot.org)

Christian Paul (jaller94@mastodonten.de)'s status on Saturday, 12-May-2018 22:49:55 UTC Christian Paul I love the @fdroidorg app store for Android. In my mind screenshots add a lot of value to the listings.
That’s why today I’m going to submit PRs to a couple of app repos to add screenshots.
The PRs for #AndStatus and #OpenVegeMap are already sent:

AndStatus@mstdn.io (andstatus@mstdn.io)'s status on Tuesday, 27-Mar-2018 20:41:37 UTC AndStatus@mstdn.io @amiloradovsky Advanced problem diagnostic tools in #AndStatus are not for developers only, unfortunately. Answering lots of questions like "Why I don't see new posts in my timeline" during several years, I got that instances of the federated network are not very stable and may easily misbehave for some time. This is why even for an ordinary user a need to figure out a cause of a problem occurs more often than when using corporate services, backed by 24x7 support...

AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Thursday, 15-Mar-2018 05:38:01 UTC AndStatus @thatbrickster Currently I'm testing Video attachments in development build of #AndStatus. I expect this feature will appear in the next release (v.38)
BTW, two days ago AndStatus v.37.01 was released to production and it is already available for everybody at Google Play.

AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Tuesday, 13-Mar-2018 16:10:56 UTC AndStatus @thatbrickster Yes, and as soon as you are not storing notes for years, it looks like media files take the most part of the storage.
And that files really could be stored in the "cache" storage space.
I'm planning to add a separate setting to limit media files storage. Currently media files are deleted only after corresponding notes have been deleted.
Tip for now: In order get rid of all media files, you can:
1. Create backup of #AndStatus data ( it doesn't contain media files)
2. Uninstall AndStatus
3. Install the same version of AndStatus and
4. Restore backup on the first launch. -
AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Tuesday, 13-Mar-2018 05:59:07 UTC AndStatus @thatbrickster Whoa, I thought that my local database of 250 Mb is the largest used with #AndStatus. It looks like you configured AndStatus not to purge old notes in Settings -> Storage?! Please do this if you see that the database is too large.
Your own notes, reposts and likes by you shouldn't be purged in any case... but I would create a backup first...
Regarding treating local database as a cache: cache is what can be re-read from a server, if necessary, but if you store data for years, like I do, you have in your local database content that may be unavailable at the original source. Or that source server may be already shut down... Moreover, I see posts telling that e.g. a timeline from #Mastodon is available for several _days_ only. -
AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Mar-2018 18:13:25 UTC AndStatus #AndStatus v.37.00 is available in the Open Beta testing channel https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456
"Merging actors of Users from different Social Networks. New Interactions timeline"
1. Actors having the same WebFingerId (e.g. "andstatus@loadaverage.org") in different social networks are merged logically. This allows AndStatus to show you in one timeline activities of one actor, downloaded via different instances. This is especially needed for GNU Social and Mastodon.
Please note that for Pump.io this feature is provided for years, because all Pump.io instances use the same actorID (WebFingerId) for the same actor.
2. Mentions timeline is replaced by Interactions, which shows not only "mentions" and replies, but also likes, reposts and followers. Basically "Interactions" timeline shows all interactions of other users with us (our actors) whereas "Notifications" timeline shows us only those interactions, which we preferred to be notified about in Settings > Notifications, plus unsent notes.
3. Names of things in the User interface (mostly) changed according to the #ActivityPub Recommendations. In particular, now we use the word "note" for tweets/toots/notices.
And the words "Actor" and "User" have different meanings (In ActivityPub, a user is represented by "actors" via the user's accounts on servers. User's accounts on different servers correspond to different actors.) Most of Timelines in AndStatus show Activities now instead of Notes. https://loadaverage.org/attachment/4102974 -
AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Mar-2018 05:35:39 UTC AndStatus @mcscx As I wrote already regarding duplicated posts: this is an effect of the "guaranteed message delivery" from #AndStatus side and "duplication problem ignorance" from the GNU Social server side.
The long story about duplicated posts, caused by communication problems, is here: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/83 -
AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Mar-2018 15:20:16 UTC AndStatus @mcscx@quitter.se Sorry for duplicated posts. It looks like a server processed the large image too long and I got Timeout exception at my side after 30 seconds.
I will change default "Connection timeout" in #AndStatus Settings -> Syncing to 60 seconds to accommodate for such slow servers. https://loadaverage.org/attachment/4099046 -

AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Friday, 16-Feb-2018 04:45:14 UTC AndStatus @roka I created the feature ticket: "Maximum size of cached images, Mb" with a default value of 100 Mb
I.e. we may decide to store messages for years, but have a reasonable limit for avatars and attachments.
https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/459
Avatars are much smaller than attachments, so maybe internally #AndStatus will distribute the whole allocated size between them so that avatars could live longer in the cache.

AndStatus (andstatus@loadaverage.org)'s status on Monday, 05-Feb-2018 05:20:37 UTC AndStatus While helping one of my friends to make UI of his application more responsive, I found out that #AndStatus needs similar fixes also... As a result of this discovery potentially long file access operations (actually, all file access functions) where moved to asynchronous tasks. And timeline scrolling became smooth!
Please try v.36.09 (currently in beta https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 )
