As for explaining why many fall to the trap of #OpenSource — despite coming in the 1990s, while #FreeSoftware came in #1983 —, #YochaiBenkler 's keynote ( https://downloads.softwarefreedom.org/2017/conference/0-keynote.webm ) and @conservancy 's speeches can help form arguments.

@njoseph @strypey This would need the noted extension plus either complete #JavaScript / #JS blocker (like #NoScript or, although insecure, simply disable it ) or a partial one (e.g.: #LibreJS, which blocks only those not correctly marked as being #FreeJS / #FreeSoftware / #FreeSW / #LibreSoftware ).

@LovesTha @alcinnz #FreeSoftware / #FreeSW goes beyond #OpenSource / OSS, since it also cares to prevent #DigitalHandcuffs such as #DigitalRestrictionsManagement / #DRM and #RestrictedBoot. Besides, #OpenSource misses this and other points, as explained in https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.html and https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-open-overlap.html . Also, most basic levels of certification don't require turning the software non-free.

@LovesTha @alcinnz As far as I can see, they can be presented as countermeasure to the "#security through obscurity" (e.i.: no #transparency) or, better yet, "through lack of freedom of the software" (i.e.: not #FreeSoftware / #FreeSW, which aims for more than transparency, but for the user to exercise control over their own environment, according to the capability-based approach to political #philosophy ). One improvement would be to require approval of each release in https://directory.fsf.org .

¿En peligro el Software Libre y #GNU/Linux con lo promulgado en #México?

Hace pocos días, el 29 y 30 de junio, en el Senado de México, se han aprobado sendas reformas a la Ley Federal de los Derechos de Autor (LFDA), tanto en el Senado como en la Cámara de Diputados. Dicha reforma ahora establece que los candados digitales no deben romperse, salvo muy contadas excepciones. Acotando que, un candado digital no es más que un mecanismo tecnológico de protección usado por fabricantes o desarrolladores de dispositivos para garantizar el usufructo de los derechos de autor que le pertenezcan.

Pero, ¿Cómo esto puede afectar o poner en peligro al Software Libre y GNU/Linux? Bueno, haciendo un resumen de lo comentado por organizaciones y ciudadanos de dicho país sobre dichas reformas legislativas, se puede extraer que estos nuevos cambios en dichas leyes, ahora pueden so pena de sanciones administrativas o penales, evitar que los usuarios puedan realizar ciertas actividades técnicas consideradas sensibles para los fabricantes o desarrolladores.
