Crea tus propios #videojuegos de #Game Boy con GB Studio - No Puedo Creer

Hace muy poquito se celebraba el 30 aniversario del lanzamiento de la mítica Game Boy en Japón, la que para muchos es la mejor consola que ha habido y la tercera más vendida de la historia.

Para dejarnos llevar un poquito por la nostalgia, te traigo una herramienta muy interesante (y gratis!) con la que puedes crear tus propios videojuegos (ROMs) de la Game Boy sin tener conocimientos de programación.

La herramienta se llama GB Studio y ha sido creada por Chris Maltby. No te costará un euro y podrás crear la lógica de tu próximo juego, distintos niveles y «sprites» con su intuitivo editor visual. Para los gráficos sólo necesitas un editor que trabaje con ficheros PNG y la parte del audio viene del GBT Player.

Woot! after three seperate failing attempts I managed to get Unicode box drawing characters on NCurses to work through telnet using Ruby. All my attempts in the past either rendered with plain ascii or not at all, it was very ugly.

This will ultimately get integrated into the Open-source :opensource: Ruby :ruby: MUD I've been writing called Aethyr (a text-based mmorpg)

Solarus is a free and open-source Action-RPG game engine, licensed under GPL, and written in C++. It runs quests in Lua, and can work on a great number of platforms.
Solarus also features a game editor called Solarus Quest Editor, written in C++ with Qt to help you create your game.

It is a text based multi-player online game called a MUD. You don't even need a client to play, just telnet in to the server.

I've been working on porting over and improving the code that renders an area map. I finally have all the functionality ported over! I attached a screen shotto show what it looks like.
