    It seems crazy that I have to go to such lengths to get admin rights on a device I own, and uninstall bundled apps I don't want. I seem to remember an anti-trust law suite that successfully forced #Microsoft to stop bundling Internet Exploiter with Windows in a way that made it hard to remove or disable. Could we use that precedent to liberate #Android from compulsory #GoogleApps?

    Cómo se beneficia Linux ahora que #Microsoft ha hecho open source más de 60.000 de sus patentes

    Microsoft acaba de dar el paso más tangible hasta ahora para demostrar que va en serio con lo de su amor a Linux y nuevo compromiso con el open source. Si bien la empresa de Redmond ya había hecho cosas como unirse a la Linux Foundation como miembro platino, o liberar proyectos como .NET, TypeScript, Visual Studio Code y Powershell, esta vez se trata de algo mucho más grande.

    Microsoft ha cedido más de 60.000 de sus patentes para "ayudar a proteger Linux y el open source". Y aunque suene un poco a eslogan publicitario, sí es justamente eso lo que han hecho al unirse a la comunidad de Open Invention Network (OIN).

    #Microsoft se quedó con #GitHub, así que ahora #Google está invirtiendo sus millones en #GitLab

    Competencia le llaman. A nadie debería sorprender, aunque si entretener, que tras la compra de GitHub por parte de Microsoft por la nada despreciable suma de 7.500 millones de dólares, Google haya decidido invertir en GitLab, la plataforma que sin dudas se perfila como el principal competidor de GitHub.

    No debería sorprender porque al poco tiempo de la compra, supimos que Google también había estado interesada en hacerse con GitHub, y mientras Microsoft espera por el sí de la Unión Europea para terminar la transacción, Alphabet, la empresa madre de Google está ayudando a GitLab a alcanzar una valoración de 1.000 millones de dólares.

    Woaw, look at this FLOSS-hostile move by Microsoft. According to their policies they have to take money from people to be able to provide Krita in the microsoft store.

    And because of that they write that they can get to the website to get it for free. But Microsoft doesn't like that (may be valid for some type of stuff tho) so now they aren't allowed to talk about downloading it on the website.
