also there's a little bit of Peertube vs YouTube in there.The good news for just #viewers is that just like #youtube you won't necessarily have to join *any* particular server for Peertube just to view a video.
but here's how to really supercharge your Peertube video viewing experience.
1. use #Sepiasearch to search for videos from a bunch of different peertube servers works almost like how you do on #Youtube. This has a 2010-2014 feel of Youtube search. it's amazing and it's affordable since the Sepiasearch owners don't have to host the videos just the #thumbnails and etc. More affordable then #youtube #rumble #netflix and etc for hosting, due to its fediverse nature. Despite that this search will direct you to atleast 80% of all Peertube hosted videos, if not all of the servers out there.
2. if you are on #android use #Newpipe app to subscribe to all these Peertube channels in a single feed with no ads for free and legally. Although by defualt Peertube already does not show ads, as #Youtube continues to double down on shoving ads down peoples throats. Not really much of a solution for Peertube elsewhere quite like newpipe.
3. Or just subscribe to peertube channels from mastodon. It's #federated after all. Within the #fediverse. Done in #federation
rest of this is just me rambling, but it is useful info to consume about Peertube.
Honestly, at first the switch wasn't so easy because I didn't think Peertube really had much to offer, untill I just kept exploring sepia search and finding more interesting channels to subscribe to.
Even tho I been only posting about one #channel the past last night and this morning (est time) I have more then 6 other animating channels strictly from Peertube I can post about. So there isn't a shortage of content.

¿Por que los usuarios del #Fediverso no estan usando la paleta de alternativas que hay?
Si quiero compartir videos con amigos o crearme un canal para mi tienda o abrir mi propio #podcast o #vlog, no me pregunto si hay instancias o proyectos especializados en esa direccion dentro del fediverso, sino que prefiero las alternativas comerciales... pero ¿por que?
La respuesta esta a la mano. Las experiencias de algunos usuarios usando instancias de #peertube o #funkwhale no han sido de las mejores.
Aqui un par de ejemplos: Yo mismo en su momento llegue a tener 3 cuentas en instancias de peertube y funkwhale, con una pequeña agrupacion nos gastamos casi un año trabajando en crear un podcast y un #videoblog de entrevistas, y que de golpe y sin aviso, 2 de las instancias cerraron y eliminaron nuestro material dejandonos con las manos vacias.
Para cualquiera que crea videos y audios aunque sea por hobby, sentira el mismo dolor al ver su trabajo llendose al tacho de la basura en unas cuantas horas y sin siquiera enterarte.
Mientras el fediverso no logre encontrar una solucion que logre rescatar y mantener vivos esos canales y materiales, no se si realmente llegue a ser una alternativa a las mierdas comerciales como youtube o anchor.
Para muchos es una muy buena noticia que sus mensajes en mastodon puedan ser "olvidados", pero no es el caso de todos. Y hay que diferenciar entre el olvido deseado y planificado y el forzado. Desde el nacimiento del fediverso imagino que la cantidad de instancias que han pasado a mejor vida ya deben superar los 20, 60 o 100 mil... quien sabe.
