#Twitter Verified Checkmark accounts right now….

#TheVerge is on a roll, social media platform wise. They published an interesting article on #ActivityPub, the underlying protocol of #Mastodon, #Pixelfed and many other #Fediverse thingies.

It goes into detail on the companies that recently joined the club in supporting it, the previous struggles on getting social media more open, and the current trends.

Still missing is the official presence of The Verge here on Mastodon though 😉

#Minnesota Public Radio is leaving #Twitter, following the footsteps of #NPR and PBS, after such orgs were initially labeled earlier this week as “state-affiliated.”

Individual member donations are the largest source of funds for #MPR, augmented by other non-governmental sources.

About 7 percent of MPR’s funds come from government sources, "mostly in the form of program grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting."

I love #npr and am a contributor. The last place I would ever follow them is on #twitter. I hope there is momentum to have them officially join #fediverse.

Now that #NPR left #Twitter and many on #Mastodon are calling for it to come to the #Fediverse, maybe it's time for a recap, what we @heiseonline@heise.de did?

Our account on mastodon.social (@heiseonline) was registered (rather "claimed") years ago, but left dormant until #ElonMusk bought #Twitter. Then I started to post a couple of links to #news articles every day. Our web-devs (namely @entropie) verified the account days later by adding a link to it on heise.de, giving it the green link.

Qué locura lo que está pasando con #twitter.
Ojalá fuera el nacimiento de una era en la que los medios como #npr manejaran sus propias instancias y se federasen en algún lugar, #mastodon o lo que sea.

Estaría bueno que se volviera popular un espacio federado para compartir información sin que pesen los likes, reposts, el engagement controversial y criterios falopa para asignar relevancia al contenido. Recuperar la salud.

Básicamente lo que hace es darte el control de lo que quieres ver y consumir en Twitter, quitándote las tonterías del Melón.

Por ejemplo, el Para ti a la puta calle, ya no tienes por qué tenerlo. Los RT para otra pestaña, nada de ver cosas raras en tu TL principal. Las métricas te las oculta. Te dice las cuentas que están verificada por Twitter Blue con su propio logo, nada de que te la metan doblada.

Y más cosillas, pero lo mejor es que tú tienes el control de todo eso, porque puedes personalizarlo 🤯
