Here's an unusual videogame podcast. The two hosts never interact directly with each other, but rather exchange voicemails over a period of time. The latest episode is on Alone in the Dark. https://gamething.life/ #Podcast#Videogames#Gaming
For those who've read my published #gamedev journal "The Making of Prince of Persia" and wondered what happened after that... (The book ends on January 10, 1993, with Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame still in development, and The Last Express just getting started)
Yesterday, I played a bit of the 1989 MS-DOS game Interphase.
The complex gameplay is rather intriguing, reminding me of a more primitive Descent or System Shock. I also love the flat-shaded polygons that call me back to SNES StarFox. Even the PC speaker shines in this game, with digitised sound.

We’re super excited for what this means for our servers continued growth. Thank you all SO MUCH for your ongoing support!
I spent a good chunk of today playing the 1986 MS-DOS RPG game Shard of Spring. There's some things I don't like about it (can't sell items, some interface and pacing issues, ugly 4-colour CGA, etc...), but I like the simple but challenging nature of this game, especially in combat, so I'm happy with what I'm playing.
I'm especially impressed at how it was apparently made in BASIC, even if it's kinda slow.
I've recently been playing a ton of Ultima III: Exodus.
I'm playing with the LairWare remaster on Macintosh OSX. It features a lot of quality of life improvements, and a ton of different tilesets, such as C64, Apple II, NES, etc.....I'm playing with the 68k Mac one. For some reason, I adore that high-res black and white style
My dad played the NES port of this game back in the day, and I'm now enjoying it myself.
I don't normally enjoy this framing of the topic, but I'm having a weird day, so here goes: What were some of the worst *retail* DOS games that you have played? And I specifically mean games that one would buy in a big box in a store for $40-60 back in the day. #DOSGaming#Videogames#PCGaming#80sVideogames#90sVideogames#VideoGameHistory#MSDOS#IBMPC
I've been on here for a while, but hey, since there's an influx of users that might still see the original instance Greetings, fellow Mastodorks! I am Anatoly Shashkin, the DOS guy. I mainly talk about stuff related to IBM PC and MS-DOS gaming. Tell me about your DOS memories or recent DOS escapades. 💾 I also enjoy cats 🐈, movies 🎥, and alcohol 🥂. Moved from Russia to the U.S. almost 20 years ago. #DOSGaming#MSDOS#IBMPC#introductuons#RetroGaming#Videogames
I realize I don't have an #introduction post up, so this is a good opportunity to fill the void. In short, this account is a dump. A mental dump of what I have to blurt out to the world.
Here I'm mainly known for working on #Friendica (#programming ), one of many pieces of software part of the #Fediverse. We strive to be compatible with as many decentralized social media protocols as possible, at the moment we're compatible with #Diaspora, #ActivityPub (think Mastodon) and #OStatus, with optional connectors with #Twitter and others.
I have an 8-year old kid (#parenting ), play #VideoGames and often have opinions about them.
Friendica doesn't have a post character limit but I still infrequently post longer pieces on my blog: blog.mrpetovan.com
Last bit you may want to know about me before following me on here: I am not in favor of absolute free speech. Online spaces need to be moderated to counter the real life discriminating power dynamics.
David Fox worked on all kinds of famous graphic adventures like "Maniac Mansion", "Zak McKraken", "Indiana Jones" and returned to the genre recently with Ron Gilbert on "Thimbleweed Park" and "Return To Monkey Island".
