After a lot of deliberation, I have decided to launch a #Patreon with a modest goal, in order to support #fediQuest development, since two hours of me tired after work, every couple of days doesn't really cut it.

We need a multi-national, publicly funded research organization akin to CERN/within CERN, whose whole purpose is to develop a state-of-the-art browser that's not Chromium-based. Make #Google follow our lead, rather than us having to follow Google.

If the Web could be developed using public money, why not a modern browser? Public funding would remove the Mozilla problem of them having to depend on Google.

With the amount of money governments waste annually, we could fund this AND Mozilla.

Sometimes I feel like the only person who actually likes, and gets the need for, #systemd, but then I remember that for most people it just works(tm), so we never hear from them.

My thing with sysvinit etc. was that when things stopped working, I never knew consistently where to start digging, what tools could I use with a particular script etc. - with systemd, I have a consistent set of tools I can use to add/modify and monitor my init system, something sysvinit simply didn't offer.

As per MS employee on HN, if you want to disable #Windows telemetry, you're "conspiracy minded". Nice.

Hey guys look at what China & Russia is doing, so authoritarian, nothing like our beautiful democracy over here...

So Elon Musk is refusing to pay an artist for art he used in Tesla marketing materials, claiming he 'promoted' his work by using it.

I am the furthermost thing from an advocate of copyright, but what I find amazing in these cases is that professed capitalists like Elon, who claim that is the best, most fair model to run a society, (because it rewards people who work hard and create value), then refuse to compensate people for their hard work and the value that they clearly provided.
