We like to talk about how lightweight #WriteFreely is by saying it's "light enough to run on a Raspberry Pi." But to actually do that, you'd need to go through the work of compiling everything yourself.

Well, not anymore. Now we'll be releasing ARMv7 builds that can run on a Raspberry Pi, starting with WriteFreely v0.10.

Coming in #WriteFreely v0.10: more control over your home page! As the admin of a multi-user instance, you'll be able to:

* Change the content of the home page (as seen here: https://pencil.writefree.ly)

* Change the default page that non-users land on (e.g. instead of the home page, it could be your About page, or a specific blog)

After a few years of running a Mastodon instance (https://writing.exchange) or two (https://m.abunchtell.com) and bringing our own platform into the fediverse with ActivityPub support, earlier this month https://Write.as became a Mastodon sponsor.

We've reached a point where we'd like to start #hiring developers to work on the #WriteFreely roadmap 💻 :writefreely2:

This would be remote, contract-based work for now, with a chance to go full-time later in the year (assuming all continues going well). You'd be creating free / open source software.

There will be a bit of downtime (up to 30 minutes) on February 4 at 01:30 UTC while we do some server maintenance. This will affect blogs on a custom domain or writeas.com subdomain, but not the main application, API, etc.
