when you are learning a new lang, remember, read/write is a complete diff skill than listen/speak. the listen/speak is far more primal, and much more practical. think of crying for help. read/write is more related to scholarship.

remember, language and its writing system are completely different things. many langs don't have written form (can't be written down). writing system usually came hundreds years later. historically, many langs changed their writing systems.

the world's langs are written in just a few scripts. latin, arabic, cyrillic, chinese chars.
