Check out what using a 40-core (160 thread) #TalosII with optional #AMD WX7100 GPU looks like! Screenshot of actual system showing Firefox, Blender, and htop under #KDE Plasma 5 on #Debian .

This depends mainly on the success of efforts like the Talos™ II. If we see significant update of the POWER platform through machines like Talos™ II then we definitely have plans to expand into the desktop market, and from there possibly the laptop market as well.
As you can imagine, building a new ecosystem around secure computers and a relatively newly supported architecture takes time, but we're definitely up to the challenge and working toward these goals as quickly as possible!

#TalosII dual CPU fan noise under 55dB@1m w/ full load, drops below 45dB in typical metal chassis. Idle noise even lower - ears quite safe!

Malware now possible in the Intel ME! This is a good time to switch to #TALOSII and #OpenPOWER, before expensive, publicly embarrassing hacks occur... https://social.raptorengineering.io/url/356

coreboot now booting with BMC firmware module installed: https://www.raptorengineering.com/coreboot/kgpe-d16-bmc-port-status.php
The BMC module takes SPI/GPIO control, therefore coreboot patches were needed to allow RAM initialization and boot.

More information on Intel ME exploit https://semiaccurate.com/2017/05/01/remote-security-exploit-2008-intel-platforms/ Systems vulnerable for years due to ME signature checks requiring Intel patch!

Intel ME confirmed privilege escalation exploit -- was unfixable until Intel created patch after multi-year delay: https://security-center.intel.com/advisory.aspx?intelid=INTEL-SA-00075&languageid=en-fr
We strongly suggest using ARM and OpenPOWER machines at this time. x86 carries a high level of security risk for the sole benefit of lower cost.
