Most people think about the big American data silos when talking about social networking. But there is a world outside these silos, where FreeSoftware empowers the networking of people and organisations.
In this talk I would like to show you a glimpse of this world, what advantages it offers and how it can be used to reach even those entangled in the siloes.
It is a one hour slot, that will most likely not be filled completely with the talk. Afterwards should be time and space in the hall for a get together of the decentralized federal social network users.

Tobias (tobias@social.diekershoff.de)'s status on Thursday, 23-Nov-2017 12:30:50 UTC Tobias A friend a working on a piece of Free Hardware for easy flashing a coreboot or libreboot laptop. He's doing an ad-hoc crowdfunding campaign until December 1st. If you think this is cool and have some bucks for the fundraiser, please get in touch with him!
http://www.zerocat.org/chipflasher.htmlDear Folks! Zerocat’s Chipflasher applies for FSF’s Respects-Your-Freedom Certificate. As we received feedback recently, the Chipflasher is on the right way to go, however some features and fixes must be updated to get through the certification process... -

Tobias (tobias@social.diekershoff.de)'s status on Monday, 19-Jun-2017 12:18:57 UTC Tobias So, all in all my upgrading the desktop computer from Debian Jessie to Stretch https://www.debian.org/News/2017/20170617 was painless as expected and I could have skipped the process of ensuring that I had recent backups of the important files :-)
Thanks and Kudos to everyone who was involved in making this possible! <3

Tobias (tobias@social.diekershoff.de)'s status on Tuesday, 04-Apr-2017 13:26:10 UTC Tobias Mastodon uses the OStatus protocol, so if that is active on your Friendica node then you can follow, be followed and communicate with Mastodon users. GNU social groups are currently not supported by Friendica, but this is planned https://github.com/friendica/friendica/issues/1666. -

Tobias (tobias@social.diekershoff.de)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Feb-2017 08:40:46 UTC Tobias I love FreeSoftware
I spend some time yesterday thinking about what was your most favourite FreeSoftware project of the last year? And I could not really find an answer to the question. Not because I don't know any projects I care about, but the most favourite is hard to grasp when one can use GNU/Linux for the last two decades almost exclusively ;-)
So instead I'd like to send some <3 to David Revoy http://www.davidrevoy.com/ who is the author of Pepper and Carrot http://www.peppercarrot.com/ a lovely free, libre and open-source webcomic which entertained me quite some times over the last year, reading and re-reading the episodes. The comic is drawn using https://krita.org/en/ and https://inkscape.org/ and the stack around them, so Kudos to these projects for making Pepper and Carrot possible :-)
Also I want to thank the people involved in all the cool projects that make the deventralised social network so wonderful diverse as it is. Thanks to all of you who contribute in so many ways to https://diasporafoundation.org/, http://friendica.com, GNU social https://gnu.io/social/, https://hubzilla.org, https://mastodon.social, postActive http://www.postactiv.com/, http://pump.io] and all those I've forgotten ;-)
