I was reading a bit about the history of Etherpad. I totally didn't realize that it was originally built by a startup (AppJet) that was acquihired by Google to integrate into Google Wave, and that it had real time editing *before* Google Docs.
this is a great resource for the #OSM community https://osmcal.org, we need something like this for fediverse events... (by this I mean a "centralized" place to that lists all the meetups and events that are directly happening around the fediverse ecosystem)
I don't think many folks here in the English speaking side of the fedi know about #Juick (juick.com) but its another part of the #fediverse that is already federating. I just discovered that they are also open source and the code is all available at https://x.juick.com/Juick/ licensed under AGPLv3. #ActivityPub
I don't see any posts about it but I just came across https://loforo.com which is a photo sharing site that has joined the #fediverse. You can search for @username@loforo.com already and it seems like there is an active photo sharing community there already.
The first account I came across is @hormeza, so hello there!
for his second post on Threads, the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseril: "We're committed to building support for ActivityPub, the protocol behind Mastodon, into this app. We weren't able to finish it for launch given a number of complications that come along with a decentralized network, but it's coming." https://www.threads.net/t/CuRtcYTNY3J
every profile on Threads already has the instance tag 'threads.net' after the username and when you click it "Soon, you'll be able to follow and interact with people on other fediverse platforms, like Mastodon. They can also find people on Threads using full usernames, like @mosseri@threads.net."
