@freakazoid I'm frankly rather less interested in the "who's to blame" question than the (book-length) assertion that modern mainstream economic theory, at least to the extent that it's portrayed in major policy matters, is claimed to be largely baseless and very strongly serving interests of an empowered and wealthy minority. Much as various self-justification theologies of the past have been.

Politicians as economists are largely tools of this same cohort.

Principle uses: browsing, coding, data analysis, some audio/video bits. No gaming.

Would like to be reasonably future-proofed.

Looking at Intel's NUC units, something small *and quiet* would be nice. Intel CPUs themselves not so much (Spectre/Meltdown).

Large and multi-display capable.

I vastly prefer to avoid Nvidia.

fedichive.tk are 1) archiving all Mastodon content, 2) offering search as a service 3) are refusing to remove content at the request of that content's author, and 4) are threatening retaliatory actions as a consequence of receiving such requests.

I'm requesting the instance be blocked and defederated by mastodon.cloud, and that blocking and defederation be requested of all other Mastodon instances through which content archives might be leaked incidentally.

@GraspingAnts There is no "backbone". Unless a site is directly hosted by endpoint broadband providers servicing homes, offices, or mobile.

The Internet works by routing individual networks (ASes, "autonomous systems") via border gateway protogol (BGP). It relies on major providers advertising and respecting routing advertisements. Null-routing or ignoring advertisements effectively takes a network space offline. That's what's happened to Epik here.

@syndikalista Also, not quite what you're asking for, but with mps-youtube, you can run a search (or searches), curate those, save a playlist (I add a datestamped and descriptive title), then listen to the whole list. It's trivial to find hours of relevant content, so there's plenty to listen to.

Keep that open in a screen session on my media-playing system, and use that to control playback (speed, pause, repeat, skip, etc. ).

That's revolutionisd YT for me. And virtually no crap.

I'm looking at one for an article which doesn't seem to generate <article> or <main> elements, though if it did either, would make some layout / CSS issues a lot easier to deal with.

Problem now is that when I set additional margins within <blockquote> segements, they don't really or consistently differ from the adjacent <p> elements. I have a sad.
