Intense shooting in Damascus for unknown reasons, but it does strengthen the possibility of a rumor I heard ½hour ago, that there was a coup-attempt against al-Assad, but that is still just very much a rumor, whilst the shooting is real.
At this point it would actually be good if crimes against humanity dictator al-Assad's forces fought back a bit against the "jihadists" somewhere, so there isn't a situation where everything is then turned on the SDF to crush the Women's Revolution.
Not far now, but unless there's capitulation and it being accepted I'd imagine the last bit would be the mist difficult, filled with people who expect to not be able to surrender.
Reportedly the Aleppo International Airport, which was closed due to Aleppo being under ongoing conquest by "jihadists" and al-Assad's military in response to that leaving the city, is now instead under control of the People's Defense/Protection Units (YPG):
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), rebranded regional al-Qaeda and Turkey-backed factions claimed today that officers from the Assad-government of Syria's forces are in contact with them to coordinate control over various regions in the country, "to negotiate the transfer of control over strategic areas. While these claims remain unverified, they hint at potential cracks within the Syrian regime as it faces renewed pressure from opposition advances." https://npasyria.com/en/118867/
"Iraqi Deputy Commander of Joint Operations [...] announced that Iraq's border with Syria has been completely closed [...] after the attacks on Aleppo by the Turkish state-affiliated Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) gangs." https://anfenglish.com/news/iraq-closes-border-with-syria-76588
When you say "completely closed"... you don't mean closed to the people fleeing from the "jihadist" gangs, do you? Do you? You do, don't you.
"6 villages in Manbij shelled by Turkish occupation, its mercenaries" https://hawarnews.com/en/6-villages-in-manbij-shelled-by-turkish-occupation-its-mercenaries This is the place in the autonomous North and East syria [a.k.a. "Rojava"] where the next big push of Turkey's imperialist invasion "jihadist" auxiliaries with the rebranded regional al-Qaeda is expected to occur. When, is unknown but especially since the leader of the largest fascist party in Turkey (MHP, backing dictator Erdoğan) explicitly called for this to be next it seems even more so probable.
From @YPJ_Info (elsewhere), part 2 of 2: ───── Who is SNA? The Syrian Free Army, the initial main oppositional military force at the outstart of the Syrian revolution has not existed under a central command since 2015 and slowly lost power. Turkey took the lead, reassembled forces under the name Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (TFSA) later calling itself Syrian National Army, carrying the same flag as the SFA. The SNA in its current form was founded in 2017 largely out of Turkmen factions and has grown into a conglomerate of over 30 militias, including former FSA-militias. The SNA claims to be the main opposition to the Assad regime, also having set up a political arm, the “Syrian Interim Government’.
SNA forces have been acting largely as a proxy force for Turkish interests, expansionism and its fight against the Kurdish Freedom Movement. The SNA has joined Turkish military operations in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 (see image above) occupying Afrin, areas in the Afrin-Sexba canton, Gire Spi and Serekaniye. The SNA is mostly funded, trained and equipped by Turkey. HTS and SNA are officially operating militarily together since 2019. ─────
Russia's warplanes are bombing Aleppo now. I saw a different video showing that at least one massacre has occurred, of what seemed to be "jihadist" fighters.
Don't forget what it means when thousands, tens or thousands, or more people are "displaced" because some people want more power to oppress more people. In this case, it meant these people had to flee Aleppo now, to live like this.
Adding this https://mastodon.social/@KCK_Kurdistan_/113577814819738846 statement from the umbrella organization for democratic confederalism parties, @KCK_Kurdistan_, to my thread dedicated to the topic: ───── 'It is Necessary to be Organized, to Prepare Self-Defense and Prevent Occupation!' - Statement by the co-presidency of the KCK Executive Council regarding the latest developments in Syria.
