It’s not: if we don’t decarbonize fast enough, we’ll need more CO₂ removal (#CDR).

It’s: If we don’t decarbonize fast enough, we’re screwed.

CDR is useless unless we decarbonize drastically.

CDR is for residual emissions, not luxury removal.

What if fixing #climate doesn't mean doing everything the same way, except with less CO₂ emissions, but fundamentally changing the way we interact with nature and with other people?

I used the CO₂ removal (CDR) as time machine analogy to argue that while we need to research and develop CDR because it’s needed in the future, CDR is useless as a climate solution until we decarbonize drastically.

Capitalism sucks because government is supposed to ensure corporations conform to social welfare but these days lawmakers generally work for shareholders and not the people.

One day people will look back on "net zero by 2050" as one of the dumbest things ever.

This seems bad…

It's hard for people to visualize removing tons or billions of tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂). I propose we talk about CO₂ removal (#CDR) like a time machine (e.g., this machine will take us back 5 minutes). For example:

Q: How far back in time does planting 100 million trees take us?

A: If one mature tree takes up an average of 25 kg of CO₂ per year, then 100 million trees will take up 2.5 MtCO₂. That's a time machine that takes us back 33 minutes and 6 seconds in a year. It's not a lot.

This is how people have always treated the ocean.

Sometimes I doubt capitalism can solve climate change.

This is not normal.

TBH, this seems worse than having the road blocked by climate activists for a few minutes.
