As a teen, I worked as an office temp during summers. One day, I was sent to work at an all-white exclusive country club in the town next door. My mom needed her car, so she dropped me off at 7am. I walked in, introduced myself, told them I was the temp sent by the agency. They looked at me, walked away to talk amongst themselves, then came back. They told me the job was at the front desk, so I wouldn't do. They made me wait in the basement until my ride came.
