@gespadas Good question! It's essentially the mastodon version of "retweeting" or sharing. You click the little "boost" doohicky at the bottom of a post to share it:

Oh hey, another reminder for newbies to #MeDm (or anybody really): if you "favorite" a post it makes the author of the post feel good, but doesn't have any impact on the post's visibility (unlike on that other site). What's important on Mastodon is #BOOSTING!

#Boost liberally-- it increases the visibility of the post you're boosting AND increases the visibility of your entire instance.
