@aldobelus I know about problems with #notifications, please read my reply to you 5 days ago about my own investigation of possible causes, including about "there is nothing new".
Unfortunately, due to the Twitter-like approach in a server to client communication taken by GNU Social many years ago and even by Mastodon recently, notes and activities that look the same for a human eye, are represented as different by each server. This is the main cause of users' confusions seeing notifications about the same activities.
Hoping that the networks will eventually implement #ActivityPub "client to server layer" spec that resolves this deficiency, I plan to improve Notifications in #AndStatus even in the presence of such unavoidable duplicates...
And another note: Looking for Notifications improvements, please make sure that you have AndStatus v.43.02 installed, see https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 -

@aldobelus @colegota I monitored my Notifications in #AndStatus for some days, and today I thought that I found a bug: I saw "2 mentions", but Notifications timeline didn't show me anything that I didn't see in the morning.
I searched in logs for "NewNotification" and found out that in this case the two mentions were expected: 4 days ago I was mentioned by some user at mastodon.social, but only today I got two copies of the same note/mention: from mstdn.io and from loadaverage.org. Naturally these two new mentions were collapsed with that 4 days old mention, and this is why I didn't notice them... -

@thatbrickster AndStatus just sends replies. Without any explicit public/private flags... "Public" flag is available for pump.io only, which supports a list of recipients (Public group is included in the list of recipients for a note to be Public). -

@aldobelus If you have accounts in several fediverse instances/servers, you may receive the same activities via different servers. I see that this always happen for mentions/replies and reblogs.
Look at the attached screenshot: I received the same replies and reblogs via two servers: loadaverage.org and gnusocial.no ("Collapse duplicates" checkbox is off)

BTW some feature I miss in @andstatus it's that when I write a message from the phone I have no suggested words to click over the keyboard. -

@colegota Please try #AndStatus v.43.02 - I see that now "false notifications" are at least less frequent. -

@aldobelus I just thought that maybe when you click on a Notification, some new, special timeline should be opened called "New notifications", which would contain only activities that you didn't see before (as the application thinks...), and nothing more?! That timeline won't be refreshed automatically in order not to forget activities that were "new" seconds ago, but aren't new now as they have been shown to you already.

@aldobelus When you click on a Notification, #AndStatus opens Notification timeline at the last position that you viewed. This is by design. You need to scroll up to see newer activities.
As I see "Collapse duplicates" feature often hides several duplicated posts (activities) under one post, so if another duplicate was received, you see a Notification, but at a first glance it looks like no new activities were loaded.
I will think, how to improve this... Maybe highlight new activities somehow... -

@aldobelus I've just started to fix Notifications in #AndStatus. Step by step.
Please check v.43.02 https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456
BTW What exactly do you mean by "send me to nowhere"? -

Note - Client to server #ActivityPub layer for #Pump.io ?!
@alex@pump.strugee.net @evan@identi.ca Hello pals!
Looking at the Pump.io's GitHub site https://github.com/pump-io/pump.io I see some discussions regarding #ActivityPub support, but I couldn't figure out if you are implementing client to server layer of #ActivityPub ?!
If yes, what's the status of this work?
I want to make #AndStatus Android app an ActivityPub client, but I need at least one server that supports this in order to test my implementation, naturally :-)

@1iceloops123 Sometimes I think about this also. Hope Android Emulator will be fast enough some day. It really does better recently, and you can try it on your PC.
Create #AndStatus Backup on your phone and restore it on the Emulator. I do this for testing purposes sometimes... -
