I2P is:
🔒 An end to end encrypted, peer to peer overlay network. It is decentralized and has been developed specifically to anonymize traffic on its network.

🧩 It uses transports that allow ease of use for application developers to create familiar apps using most protocols ie email, BitTorrent, and more.

💻 Like the Internet, you connect to the network using a router, in the case of I2P this is a software router you download. There are 2 router distributions: Java (I2P Core ) and C++ (I2Pd)

The I2P network implements its own versions of TCP ( "The Streaming Protocol") and UDP ("The Datagram Protocol" and "The Repliable Datagram Protocol") to provide end - to end traffic anonymizing network rules.
This also provides versatile and familiar interfaces that application developers can adapt their own applications too so that they integrate with the I2P network. This allows for a seamless experience for users to participate in a privacy by design network overlay.
