    Good morning, Fediverse!

Greets come with something that was a bit of a droolsome thing for a teen Sharka seeing them advertised and demoed on Bad Influence: The Amstrad Mega PC!

DOS gaming AND Mega Drive gaming? All wrapped up in the beige-iest of boxes and controllers?

Damn cool then and still today!

The PC side clocked in at a 25mhz 386SX, 1MB ram, and 40MB HDD - not the snappiest of specs for 1993, but there was some wiggle room for what it came with. And at a price of £500-600 in the UK, similar to some of Amstrad's other budget PCs, it was a viable option for a best-of-both-worlds and to get in on DOS gaming without forking out a thousand or more.

Hi-res EGA <3 Spectrum Holobyte's Vette from 1989 tempts you to take it out for a spin and enjoy the freedom of the open-world road.

Maybe not so much the roar of a PC Beeper engine.

I love reading old Sierra Newsletters as by the time I got hold of my first Quest games in early 1993, KQ IV, PQ III, and SQ IV for #Amiga, the company and their franchises were already well-established and they were moving toward CD-ROM games.

And so, coming across early promo hype for KQ IV and its revolutionary sound (at least for DOS PC!) and technical leap from AGI to SCI is pretty cool stuff!

Spending some time tonight with one of my favourite Sierra Online adventure games that flies under the radar beneath all the Kings, Space, and Police Quests.

That game is Manhunter: New York.

It's a shame because firstly, just look at that box artwork! It's one of my absolute favourite game covers. It captures the forbidding apocalyptic feel perfectly and feels like it could be an 80s action flick involving ninjas and post-WWIII crime-ridden cities, though the game itself is anything but completely serious and the premise sounds like schlocky sci-fi.

It's 2004 and 2 years earlier, alien eyeballs from space invaded Earth and subjugated mankind. Penned up in ruined cities and forced to wear LOOM-esque cowls and forbidden to speak to one another, humans eke out a dreary life. Some of them are picked out by the orbs to become Manhunters, agents and crime investigators for the Orb Alliance.
