    Here are the things I did to make Pleroma super popular:

    1. Not use github
    2. Have a joke CoC
    3. Don't use slack or discord
    4. Have a barebones, unintuitive UI
    5. Post edgy stuff all day

    And what should I say, it worked! I bet we'll soon have over 20 users after only 15 months of work!

    oh, and that AP signature mechanism? That's still in draft, not a standard at all. When I implemented it I found out that all the example values in the spec were wrong. (Mastodon didn't run into this problem because they didn't test the spec values).

    or rather, even more secure, because the current AP standards document doesn't mandate any kind of signing, so you have no idea if an incoming message is authentic, aka the thing that salmon does in ostatus.

    of course mastodon implements a mechanism for that, but it's not in the standard.
