If this kind of shit doesn't wake up people, then nothing will. Fascists attacking books is the last step before fascists attacking people.

Antanicus (antanicus@social.coop)'s status on Sunday, 05-Aug-2018 14:26:34 UTC Antanicus Do you think a house-based social network (for sharing/co-dwelling and maybe even renting at a fair price) based on activity pub could work?
I am seeing lots of people in dire need of either a place where to sleep or of a few bucks to make it through a rough month... Would it make sense to connect the two?

Antanicus (antanicus@social.coop)'s status on Monday, 30-Jul-2018 07:00:24 UTC Antanicus Yesterday the Italian minister of foreign affairs Matteo Salvini (who's also the leader of the xenophobic Lega Nord party) shared a short, but significant tweet: "Tanti nemici, tanto onore" (EN: "The more enemies, the more honor"). To witness a minister of the Republic tweeting a fascist slogan on the anniversary of Mussolini's birth marks a new low in the recent history of Italy: it means the neo-fascists feel powerful enough to drop their masks and roam the streets in broad daylight.

It is also that, to this day, Europe’s foreign and economic policies continue to fuel conflict and war, unfair trading relationships and enforced austerity on developing country after developing country. What people are fleeing, is precisely what our governments have created."

This follows similar demands from Microsoft employees and Google workers over those companies' contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Defense, respectively."
Working people are the last bastion of ethics under capitalism.

Antanicus (antanicus@social.coop)'s status on Sunday, 03-Jun-2018 09:50:38 UTC Antanicus The kind of drama happening now (ie. devs ignoring specific requests put forth by some users) is the natural outcome of the benevolent dictatorship model and proves that, no matter how decent, good and caring a person is when starting a massive FOSS project, they are ALL bound to reach the "I make the rules" stage, because that's the nature of human beings when exposed to massive stress.
Let's stop #ForkOff and make #Mastodon a #Cooperative NOW!

Antanicus (antanicus@social.coop)'s status on Sunday, 03-Jun-2018 09:38:56 UTC Antanicus The drama around #ForkOff only reinforces my theory that the only healthy way to handle FOSS projects is via multi-stakeholder cooperatives where both devs and users have their say. The amount of bitterness I'm seeing right now is the most eminent byproduct of the "benevolent dictatorship" model which has been the scourge of the open source world since the beginning of times.
Turn Mastodon into a cooperative NOW!

Chief executive Michael O’Leary’s refusal to recognise unions was at the heart of the ultra low-cost model he developed to turn a small Irish regional airline into Europe’s largest carrier by passenger numbers."
Long story short: hit the pigs where it hurts the most (ie. their wallet) if you want your rights to be respected.
