Our civilization is rife with problems despite its great wealth because our civilization has prioritized generating wealth over solving problems. It doesn't make anyone rich to address the root causes of crime, sickness, war, poverty or ecocide, so those problems go unaddressed.

There is another dragonfly in the garden, perhaps two. You'd swear I had entered its very own palace, the way it kept buzzing me. I've had to come inside until it journeys onward.

Perhaps the mythical dragonfly hoards are on their way.

It actually isn't an exaggeration to compare the mainstream worldview to the virtual world depicted in The Matrix. The only difference is instead of AI keeping us imprisoned, it's psychopathic oligarchs and secretive government agencies, and instead of code, it's narrative.

If you want to visit Finland especially in the East and the #Arctic North that is called Sápmi you should read an Amitav Ghosh book, available in our North Karelian library system because I asked them to have it.

Meta continues to make AI tech that "reads" your brain waves.

This is trumpeted as a big step forward in helping nonverbal people communicate. And I don't want to denigrate this obvious need.
