David Hunt (davehunt@social.mayfirst.org)'s status on Saturday, 06-Apr-2019 19:13:30 UTC David Hunt Momentous achievement for today: I crossed a street, with the guidance of an audible traffic signal; Woopeeee! Having sucessfully conquored this challenge, an old woman touched me on the shoulder, saying, "Good Boy"! I think the bigger accomplishment was my self-control; I just patiently mumbled "Have a nice day", and we went our separate ways. #blind #blindness #LowExpectations #MicroAggressions #dailylife -
David Hunt (davehunt@social.mayfirst.org)'s status on Sunday, 31-Mar-2019 01:53:08 UTC David Hunt So happy that Chirp is #FreeSoftware and accessible! #hamradio I could program this UV5R without it, but this program makes working with my radio so easy. At my club meeting, I mentioned using Chirp and was told, "That's inaccessible"! Apparently, it is, when you use Windows and a screen reader. Only gripe: I cannot get a frequency or squelch tome readout spoken by the radio itself. When working in #VFO mode, it's not really a problem; I can enter freqs directly, but when channelized mode, I only know channel numbers and names. As long as I restrict transmission to the ham bands, I suppose I'm not likely to break any rules... -
David Hunt (davehunt@social.mayfirst.org)'s status on Thursday, 28-Mar-2019 23:14:56 UTC David Hunt I have disconnected this gnusocial account from the twitter account with which I've developed a toxic relationship; the twitter account will die by Apr 1. -
David Hunt (davehunt@social.mayfirst.org)'s status on Sunday, 27-Jan-2019 21:40:58 UTC David Hunt I use the Orca screen reader and GNUSocial. hashtags do not present any special problem; they are read as such, and are presented as links. Browser is the latest firefox. Orca has descriptions for common imojis; too many of these can slow down reading.
