okay bear with me. you hear lots of clichés about capitalists as wolves or other apex carnivores, but here's the thing: wolves are rarely encountered, social beings with some fine instincts for long-term survival and community sustainability.

goldfish, on the other hand, are ubiquitous and unexceptional, but can choke whole ecosystems as invaders. they grow until they die, often from their own filth or gorging to death, and their size depends on circumstances rather than any merits 🎣
