@rosaroja10 yes! While it's not evident from social media and commits on GitHub, the project will live on until apparently a post is made about the project shutting down. We are more active in the Russian-speaking space than in the foreign one. - Jill
🤔 Did you know that you can use OpenVK on older cell phones?
Not so long ago we adapted our API for VK4ME client, and the developer in return added official OpenVK support.
So get your old cell phone out of your drawer, install VK4ME (you can get the latest version here - http://vk4me.crx.moe/) and test it!
The client does not work much (for example, not open documents or history of dialogue), but still we will be glad to your bug reports and pull requests.
OpenVK Legacy is now in the official F-Droid repository
Since we are an open source project, it was just a matter of time before we got to F-Droid (https://f-droid.org/), the FOSS applications directory. The applications there are independently rebuilt from source code, which guarantees the reproducibility of the build process. In addition, updates are available to F-Droid users.
We've fixed the strange behavior where the result was not immediately visible while changing the skin. Now skin is applied as soon as you click the "Save" button in the settings.
Previously, in OpenVK it was impossible to understand where exactly a person posted his post (unless, of course, you click on the link "on the wall").
In the latest update we have fixed this, now next to the name of the author you can see the name of the community/user on whose wall it is written.
For the more curious people, we also added pop-ups, which show the avatar and description when hovered over. The same pop-ups also work for the signatures under the post.
👥 Groups update: coadmins are now visible to other users in a separate section, unless this feature is disabled by owner. Also group owners may now be hidden 🕵️♀️.
OpenVK now supports two-factor authentication (2FA)
You can now protect your profile not only with a complex password, but also with the help of a new feature - two-factor authentication. It can be used even without internet. To do this, you need a code generation app. For example, Google Authenticator for Android and iOS or FOSS Aegis and andOTP for Android.
And when you log into your account, the site will require a code that was generated by the application to generate codes
Welp, for some reason none of the project members posted anything relevant from this account since January. I'll briefly list that has changed during this time.
- Time zone adaptation - Email verification - Converting votes to rating - Image optimization - Adaptive video cropping - Modified hashtag behavior - Changing the email address And a couple of other minor changes.
We are also working on audios, reports, profile deletion and Android client. Stay tuned.
😍 Made our layout design for conversation list and messaging app normal and socially-acceptable 😎 Added some pagination: now you don't have to limit yourself with 10 last conversations 😈 Completely and firmly redesigned our dialogue view
Did you accidentally leave your phone at your friend's house and he started texting obscene things on your behalf?
There is a way out - there is a magic button on the site, "End all sessions", which exits all devices from your account (except the one you're sitting from right now).
With this button and the account is safe, and the person does not have time to write any nasty things.
😳 We also shipped recently a major update to web version: introducing polls.
You can now ask your subs for opinions on different… stuff. While the polls are still in early stage of development, you already can: • create polls with up to 10 answer options ✨ • make them anonymous 🤫 • disable vote retraction (quiz mode) 🔐 • set expiration time ⏳
Multiple choices are available as well. We plan to gradually extend functionality of polls in the nearest future (implement vk api + fix some bugs).
