I've admired Sacha Chua for a very long time. I remember seeing a picture of her with an Emacs/chording keyboard/cyborg glasses setup years ago back in 2003. Mind blown! 😄

Here’s my suggestion for newbies: set a picture and write at least one, preferably four posts that tell us something about yourself, about what to expect.
If you follow me, I will look at your profile and maybe I’ll follow back. But I’m not following a faceless and silent avatar.

Crap Wifi in hotels makes you appreciate text media and ignore images and avoid websites that take long to load. If you can’t display shit after three seconds I guess I’m not the target audience after all.

Gah. Flipboard was hacked and our data was leaked. TripAdvisor was hacked and our data was leaked. Data is a liability. Don’t store it, because eventually you will get hacked and all the data you kept will get leaked. Data is a liability. Design applications auch that as little data as possible is kept: that as much data as possible is deleted. And as a user: provide as little data as possible. Also: I feel like not renewing passwords for accounts I haven’t used in ages. Let them stay locked. 🖕

@syndikalista In theory this can be implemented by clients using filters because they have an expiry date (thus the data can be stored on the server) and filtering is up to clients anyway.

I like the four main features for Aether. Has anybody here tried it?

Finding new people to follow is hard for newbies on any platform. I'm hoping that #Trunk can help. What I need is people volunteering to be on lists so newbies can follow a bunch of people right away. Please reply to this post if you agree to be on a list. I can always go back and delete all the tweets, all the Facebook posts, all the Mails, all the Instagram pics, but have you tried doing it? Deleting old stuff is a sad chore and nobody does it. Forgive and forget? You wish. The search engine indexes would forget, if only you'd delete, but you effectively can't.
