We should be fighting for the following when we define a living wage, not just "can pay rent and eat a food":

1. Normal standard of living.
2. High enough to make morality possible.
3. Provide for education.
4. Provide for recreation.
5. Provide for childcare.
6. Maintain these things during periods of illness or infirmity.
7. Permit reasonable savings for old age.
8. Hours sufficient to recuperate before returning to work.
9. At *least* one full day off a week.

This is the last I am going to say on the subject, but I think the fediverse overall, and the trans women and their allies who held him accountable in particular, deserve to be defended and uplifted, not trashed for being meanie celebrity heart breakers.

And now back to forgetting he even exists.

His mentions were not a trash fire at first—
people sincerely wanted to recommend he find somewhere other than counter social for his main account, and their reason was because the admin is a documented bigot.

The vitriol started and the info circulated about his block list use, when he refused to answer the gentler questions.

His experience is not evidence that the fediverse is a band of monsters; it’s evidence that we won’t be denied the ability to hold people accountable.

So, I just read his flounce toots, and all I can say is...

I don’t understand how this wasn’t addressed in the time he was here, when it was brought up multiple times, until he needed a justification for leaving.

He continuously blocked people who tried to bring it up, then accused them of being concern trolls, even when people asked him in all sincerity. So people got mad when his response to being presented with circumstantial evidence was to block rather than clear the air.

Bosses, managers, profit motive

I hate that after a year and a half, my fear that the brocialists are coming to Mastodon seems to have finally proven true.

Let's do our best to keep our anarchist/commie/socialist community safe for women, non-white people, queer people, trans people, furries, and sincerity, and to always strive to improve on what we've already established.

We created this culture, let's make sure we fight for it.

I'm not just annoyed at all your tech toots, I'm actively triggered by them. I got my master's degree in interactive tech in a program where I felt constantly belittled and where I felt condescension from my professors and fellow students because I was a femme presenting woman.
