@vampiress It's actually very interesting specifically in reference to SS remake. The unruly controls of the original definitely played into the whole survival horror aspect of the original. The remake absolutely trades that for accessibility, and... idk, maybe even loses something because of it.

@vampiress Yes, that's the 1994 one. The new one surprisingly also comes with a cool looking manual, but I haven't read it because, unlike the original, one can control it without reading the manual. 😅

System Shock's manual goes out of its way to not mention the gender of the hacker, referring to them as "person" or "friend" instead. The only time a pronoun is used in such a way in the entire manual is to identify SHODAN. And even in the CD version, it's still "him".

@COMPU73E @Judeau This is the one, the original. If you're familiar with this one, you might as well check out the International Cut to see all the changes.
There are two variations of the International version too:
- One is in Russian, but with fancy *animated* subtitles.
- No animated subtitles, but choice of regular English subtitles or an okay-ish dub.

Maybe some day I'll actually go to VCF East, if it ever happens sometime when I'm not completely broke. 🤷♂️ Yes, I'm broke pretty much all the time, but *especially* during the tax season. 😅

@loadhigh I do like the sequel as well. Fortunately the shortened International theatrical version of Day Watch was seen by very few, and only the original cut made it onto every home video release around the world. With Night Watch I really feel the changes made the movie worse.

@ieure The soundtrack is done by Aubrey Hodges, and his console DOOM ports soundtracks (PSX Doom, PSX Final Doom, and Doom 64) are somewhat legendary. They are *very* different from Doom's metal ripoffs. They are long atmospheric sounds of dread & hell.

@ieure "Better" is subjective, but it's different enough to warrant a look. It's a combination of DOOM 1 & 2, and while having cuts here and there (most notably using Jaguar levels as a base) it also adds color lighting and an exclusive soundtrack.
