@santiago Yes. That's literally what minimodem does. It doesn't do any of the more advanced modulation techniques like QAM or PSK that you'll find in more ham-oriented software like FLDigi.

I can't believe it took me until Tuesday of this week to discover minimodem: http://www.whence.com/minimodem/
Sure there are more reliable and higher bandwidth methods to get data between two computers, but I just can't help but have fun with one that just uses sound cards, microphones, and speakers, or even just an audio cable with tip-ring-ring-sleeve connectors on each end.

@santiago I generally like what's in Low Tech Magazine but this is especially useful since one can take one or more hot water bottles anywhere. I want to try this myself now!
