Why does Twitter have this setting if it's not intended to show to anyone...?

Isn't it ironic where a toot where you talk about doing typos on toots actually has a typo? So meta amirite 😂👌 :emodab:

So yeah. You want to make your voice heard? Just accept all these contracts and privacy policies, let yourself be tracked wherever you go and let us learn about what you say and do so we can know you at every detail. Nice 👌

Lately I'm noticing how comments are actually a tool for tracking and profiling. You see kids, there used to be a time where you could comment on a website just by putting a name and usually an e-mail address too. You went, typed stuff, that was it.

But now, for commenting, most websites require you to have an account. Many pages also offer an option to login with e.g. Google or Facebook. And of course, there's trackers from those same pages. So they can learn from you wherever you speak.

On a #lifeHack I've talked about previously: how are :firefox: containers and first-party isolation different?

Basically, because a container stops stuff outside of it from reading private data, and FPI stops websites outside the one you're visiting. So if you have e.g. just a single container with Google and Twitter pages, they can read each other's data. If you only have FPI enabled, you can't have different sessions of a same website.

Because it's a popular request, there's now an issue for discussing mastodon -> pleroma conversion. See https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/issues/162
