@jarm Yes, it's also sent to servers where reports came from. But of course this isn't helpful if a report comes through after the account was already suspended.

Other admins should be aware the latest suspension status of a remote account may not be reflected on their side, as it's currently only sent to followers of said account. That's something we're aware of and improving in Mastodon.

We're aware of the spam attack hitting mastodon.social right now and our full moderation and DevOps teams are on the case mitigating any way we can (incl. switching to approval-mode registrations)

@jason It means we have a nightly cron action that tags a Docker image off the main branch.

Earlier today mastodon.social has been upgraded to a nightly build too. Shout out to our DevOps! Lots of UX improvements now live.

Can’t wait to share some of these UI/UX improvements in the web and iOS/Android apps over the next few weeks! I think there’s some impactful stuff in the pipeline.

I'm excited to announce that after hundreds of applications and a long hiring process we've found our new, full-time devops engineer! Welcome on board, Tim!

Fastly and Datadog who both sponsor us by providing us a free service were instrumental in analyzing and mitigating the attack. Shout out to our own team as well, glad I don't have to do this alone anymore!

Everything is back to normal now. Yes, it was an attack, not legitimate traffic. No, we don't know who was behind it. I agree the timing with Twitter being down was unfortunate.

We've been hit by a massive DDoS attack. The site may not work as expected. We're working on mitigating the attack. Fastly are helping us. If in doubt, check status.mastodon.social for information.

Post editing is now available for testing in our iOS app's TestFlight!

I know that there's been intermittent stability issues with mastodon.social and mastodon.online recently. We're working on improving our infrastructure to address this.

I believe mastodon.social might be under a DDoS attack currently, investigating. Sorry for the inconvenience!
