I've been very careful in how I approach pixelfed development in regards to Instagram and their ToS/trademarks.

This is why you can't crosspost, or otherwise access IG apis via Pixelfed.

They are grasping at straws at this point, along with banning Pixelfed urls, this behavior is desperate.

We must be doing something right 😉

Someone who works at Meta reached out and advised me to rename the filters asap.

- Fixed photo aspect ratios
- Fixed video aspect ratios
- Simplified video player
- Videos stop playing when not in view
- Videos are muted by default (but do not autoplay)
- Video mute/unmute btn fades after 5 seconds

These will be rolling out later today to our TestFlight beta!

I have pretty thick skin but I gotta admit finding out my family has a group chat without only me hurts.

They never believed in me or Pixelfed, but the fediverse does, and I'm forever grateful for you guys ❤️

Now that I'm building my own mobile app for #pixelfed, I have a new found respect for fedi app devs.

The temptation to refactor APIs in favour of my app or remove support for 3rd party apps like we see all the time outside of the fediverse doesn't exist.

There is no incentive for me to limit 3rd party apps or clients.

This is the power of the #fediverse and #freeSoftware

I never thought I'd be able to build a mobile app.

I never thought I'd be able to build an ethical alternative to Instagram.

I never thought joining mastodon would push me beyond my wildest expectations.

Improved the onboarding flow in the #pixelfedApp!

I spent way more time on this than I anticipated but a side effect is reduced DB load across app/web clients.

Can't wait to ship this! I think it will be worth the wait 🚀
