Quick poll: what #license do you think we should use for the Funkwhale logo and graphical elements?
@renon realized we have nothing explicit about that anywhere.
CC-BY-SA seems like a good idea, but maybe there are other options?

I'm looking for musicians that want to see their work featured in Funkwhale's demo instance. The work must be under a free licence as it will be shared publicly.
If you are interested, or know about interesting and free-licenced content, you can send me a download link to one or more albums so it can be included, either here or on https://code.eliotberriot.com/funkwhale/funkwhale/issues/149 :)
It would be really great if the tracks contained album covers as well, since it's missing from the current demo!
Boosts appreciated!
I have good news!
Now that https://code.eliotberriot.com/funkwhale/funkwhale/merge_requests/269 is merged in the main branch, it is *way* easier to contribute to Funkwhale's front-end.
https://docs.funkwhale.audio/contributing.html#a-quick-path-to-contribute-on-the-front-end
Even if you are not a dev, you can help by reviewing other's work! When someone works on something, we will make their changes publicly available via a unique URL.

I might as well show you the interface to manage users. This still pretty basic, but you can use it to:
- list all the users of your instance
- search them
- order by signup date, last activity date, etc.
- see their permissions, status, email
- grant or remove them permissions
- activate/deactivate their account
After discussing with @dansup this morning, I've opened a bunch of issues regarding user activity federation in Funkwhale: https://code.eliotberriot.com/funkwhale/funkwhale/milestones/8
You may remember that right now, federation is only about sharing tracks between instances. Once the previous milestone is implemented, users will be able to follow each others on the fediverse, comment on music on so on.
I guess I have my summer scheduled ;)
The 0.14.1 #bugfix #release is out. It patches several annoying issues, especially in the importer, and also includes a HUGE performance boost during CLI import (we're talking x5 to x7 speed on files that have musicbrainz tags).
The transcoding feature was also removed, as it was broken, resource-hungry, poorly-designed and incompatible with Apache2 and Subsonic. A cleaner implementation will come later.
As usual, the full changelog may be found at https://docs.funkwhale.audio/changelog.html#id1
happy upgrade :)
For the 0.15, I'd like to fix those issues: https://code.eliotberriot.com/funkwhale/funkwhale/milestones/6
If you feel like an issue should be tackled for the next release, you can add a comment in the ticket, or more simply, upvote the ticket.
:)
Following, my earlier thread (in french: https://mastodon.eliotberriot.com/@eliotberriot/100119778998215608), I've opened a dedicated repository where we can discuss about the project #governance.
Funkwhale should be a common, not a one-man's project (as it is right now), if we want it to last.
If you want to get involved you can start here, by giving your ideas on the existing issues and open new ones if necessary:
https://code.eliotberriot.com/funkwhale/governance/issues
(It's on Gitlab until we find something else)
Say hi to the 0.13 release! What's new? I'm glad you asked:
- A brand new interface to manage instance settings
- Flac support
- More information available about tracks (bitrate, size, duration)
- A brand new permission system (but it's purely a backend change, for now ;)
Of course, the release also include several bugfixes and enhancements, all of which being outlined in the changelog: https://docs.funkwhale.audio/changelog.html#id1
Now it's official: #Funkwhale 0.12 is out with partial support for the Subsonic API, enabling users to access their instance library from existing clients such as DSub.
TL;DR: you can use Funkwhale from your smartphone and get the following features out of the box:
- offline cache for your playlists, favorites tracks or artists, current queue
- easy playlist management (creation, update, deletion)
- favorites management
As usual, the full changelog is here: https://docs.funkwhale.audio/changelog.html#id1
@roipoussiere Actually, music federation between instances is here! What we need now is more instances to test this at a bigger scale :D
#Funkwhale is a community-driven project that lets you listen and share music and audio within a decentralized, open network. :betty: :harriet: :otto:Sadly we cannot provide support or take reports here. Please let us know on our forum or issue tracker!
