    The real problem with "web" "developers" is not that they don't know how to program in "real" programming languages, it's that they have literally one job, to give the user a good experience, and instead they usually opt for pretty crap that will look good in their portfolio while being completely unusable for a significant fraction of the site's users and infuriating for the rest.

    Your reaction to #article13 should not depend on whether it passes. The people who pushed it need to be punished whether it passes or not. We need to build censorship-proof, decentralized infrastructure whether it passes or not.

    Google has removed the "Ahoy!" extension, which allows bypassing censorship, from the Chrome store. They refuse to provide any explanation as to why, but the timing w.r.t. Google's attempt to launch a censored search engine in China is certainly interesting.

    Meanwhile, the Firefox version is alive and well.

    The #Decentraland folks are talking about what people are building with their API, but AFAICT there's no actual way to *interact* with it yet. It seems pretty strange that there's an SDK but no alpha showcasing the actual end-user interaction.

    @solarbug
    20+ year lifetime, longer if you can tolerate reduced output, and lithium is not a heavy metal. It's also one of the most common elements on the planet. Maybe there are heavy metals in there too? Production of at least the solar cells requires some toxic stuff, like with all semiconductors, but with adequate controls it doesn't end up in the environment. Smartphones are far worse since they get thrown out every year or two.
