   Because #Diaspora doesn't federate with ActivityPub, so it isn't part of the Fediverse. #Friendica lets you follow people on Mastodon and (when AP gets fully released) other Fediverse sites.

   Also, Diaspora's development seems to have stopped, whereas Friendica has very active development with regular major updates (see attachments).
