    Deliciosa cucurbitácea que no se ha dejado domesticar, una vid perenne de tierra cálida cuyo aromático fruto llama la atención por su volúmen y larga duración.

    Vigorosa enredadera cuyas hojas, flores y frutos, varios pueblos han sabido usar como vermífugo, febrífugo y laxante.

    Nativa de SurAmérica, cultivada en Ecuador y Perú en época precolombina.
