I am surprised by this observation as I haven't heard about it before. I am troubled by it because should the entry guard be compromised, there will be an extensive opportunity for correlation. Which is the larger risk: the chance of selecting correlated entry and exit nodes, or once having selected a correlated entry node, selecting a correlated exit node? I never did like probability. Here's the paper https://petsymposium.org/2014/papers/Dingledine.pdf
