It’s exceptionally hard to write interestingly about joy. There’s a great deal of truth in the cliche- ‘happiness writes a blank page’. Someone else’s bliss is unbelievably boring, whereas someone else’s misery is riveting. Drama needs light and shade. Happiness is one tedious sunbeam after another.
