Photography. A black and white photo shows a narrow path between houses in Venice. The photo is very dark and the narrow alley looks menacing. At the end of the short path is a dark wooden door and above it a sculpture of a man's head as a guard. The shadows of five flying birds appear on the ground on the path illuminated by the sunlight. A photo that succeeds in exerting an uncanny pull on the viewer. You want to know what is behind the door. Or would you rather not know? Info: Ikkō Narahara (1931-2020) was a Japanese photographer. His work often depicted isolated communities and extreme conditions. He often used wide-angle lenses and even fisheye lenses with hemispherical coverage ("circular"). Narahara's works are in the possession of the National Library of France.
