   Science is useful to the ruling minority. To some extent it delivers the intelligence they need to continue to parasitise the populace. But they also know it's a loose cannon which does not necessarily respect caste divisions or the special pleading of the rich. Science, or intellectual activity generally, can be as much a threat to them as it is a tool at their disposal and so science-based policy making is rare and throughout history intellectuals have usually been considered the enemy by the ruling clique. https://social.freedombone.net/attachment/20099
