   ** Mulling over the idea of relocating to a smaller instance. Looking for somewhere well moderated, where I wouldn't look out of place (so focus on SF/F and/or story-telling), and accepting that I'd be more involved with my existing audience than participating in the local community.
   (The last part there might indicate I should set up my own instance, to be fair.)
   Thoughts and recommendations appreciated! **

     @MicroSFF I'm hunting for a smaller instance to hop to myself. What little I've been able to glean watching instance admins is that running a solo to few people instances is a little resource heavy, but when you start scaling up the cost per user gets better until you explode?

     I did instance hop with my RP's account, and moving follows and followers was easy, but I don't see a way to move toots to the new account, so be aware of that if/when you choose to move.

     @MicroSFF A small instance characterised by the worlds your stories create would be hilarious. Maybe you want to do that for a smaller network of fans AND have a presence on a bigger instance.

     Before I joined this instance in 2017, I had a look around, and asked the wandering.shop admin if I would fit there. Given that I would mostly be publishing to my followers rather than participating in the community, my goals and the instance's didn't align, and I fully respect that. Looking at writing.exchange, they seem to have similar goals and rules.
     Even though I'm only one person, when I tell microstories I am, in effect, a brand.

     @MicroSFF As some sort of data point, I see @SmallGods (which is a similar 'broadcast' sort of account) has set up at mastodon.world.
     Don't know what that instance is like wrt moderation, reachability, etc, but might be worth a look?
