The song is amazing, but the lyrics are painful.

@srevinsaju @benoit Only when I'm forced to π
@benoit @srevinsaju Yeah, and I mostly like those that aren't too upbeat and not too J-pop or J-rock:
@codewiz @srevinsaju you at least listen to anison, opening and ending ;)
@benoit @srevinsaju The Inuyasha ending themes aren't the typical J-pop stuff you'd find in a shounen anime:

I Particularly like "Fukai Mori" (ending 2) and "Every Heart" (ending 4).
I say I hate J-pop, but recently I watched a whole series centered around the J-pop and J-rap music scene in Tokyo.
Paripi Koumei's morale is that J-pop which relies on big budget effects choreography becomes garbage, and young talented artists would rather sing with their own voice.
@makuharigaijin Natto is a great analogy!

@codewiz @benoit @srevinsaju I used to think I hated Japanese music in general. But, I just was not being exposed to the good stuff. Once I realized that, I started seeking out what I might like and found quite a bit. Then I realized I probably would think I didn't like Western music if I was only exposed to pop radio. It is all about finding the good stuff. I'm sure some of it is also my tastes changing slightly through exposure as well. Like learning to like natto.
@srevinsaju You're right! Now I see that I've come to slap the "jpop" label on the stuff that goes in those "top 100 anime openings of all time" compilations π«
@makuharigaijin yes, same! years ago I thought I hated jpop too, but it turned out to be opposite! Now I find many amazing jpop songs which matches my tastes.
PS: jpop anime OP and EDs are amazing, and probably the reason why I found other amazing masterpieces
@codewiz @benoit
Do the openings of Mushishi count as j-pop even if the lyrics are 100% English and they're slow paced?
The opening of the second Mushishi series with its mesmerizing natural scenes, is also not very jpop in my mind.
@codewiz thatβs a good one, I wonder what genre it belongs to, it definitely has a pinch of pop.
