   This question came up during a recent podcast I did for a local retro gaming expo when I realized that I can't personally remark on popularity of the game outside of US because I've been living *in* the US for nearly 20 years, and the game enjoyed a comeback not only because of American nostalgia, but also as a meme, and those must be global.

     @dosnostalgic I thuinik I know of it because of LGR. He showed a handheld device I think...
