@benoit @mpjeff Here in Los Angeles, I just paid $393.for an eye exam and one pair of reading glasses, WITH INSURANCE. The doctor was "in network".

I could have saved some money by declining the macular degeneration exam and a couple of options on the lenses, but probably still around $200.

@mpjeff Too be fair it was not that expensive considering I bought two pairs, both with specific lenses.

@benoit I paid like 8000円 for my glasses a few months ago at some chain shop, including the eye exam, and was like, amazed at how cheap it was. But I just ask for UV-cut lenses and nothing special.

Unfortunately, I had to pay 35,000 yen, as there is no health insurance or coverage for eyewear in Japan. :(

I got two new pairs of glasses: one for use while working on the computer that has a blue light cut of 40%, and another for outdoor use that is photochromic.
      🤓 😎
