   There are two kinds of magic in #anime:
   魔力 (maryoku) = magic power
   呪力 (juryoku) = magic power

   What's the difference in #Japanese?

     魔力 (ma-ryoku) is the power of magical girls (魔法少女, mahō shōjo). Same "ma".

     In RPGs it's sometimes translated as "mana". #japanese

     The other one, juryoku, is not to be confused with gravity:
     重力 (juuryoku) = weight power

     It's the same "ju" kanji used in Jujutsu Kaisen (呪術廻戦), and seems to be used mainly by exorcists.

     @youronlyone In Jujutsu Kaisen, they translate 呪力 to "cursed energy", but I also heard it in less cursed contexts.

     呪力 – magic spell
     魔力 – magic power; or mana

     On second thought:
     呪 can mean curse spells, or just spells
     魔 can mean demonic spirit, or power coming from one
     力 is power

     So maybe:
     呪力 – a powerful spell that comes from other sources?
     魔力 – a power that comes from evil spirits?

     @codewiz Ahh, I got 魔力 correctly the first time as mana.

     But what is 呪力? In my first reply, I understood is a magic spell, is it correct?
