It was a mistake to arbitrarily silence Mr. Donald Trump in #Twitter. It was a democratic failure not to hold him accountable for his lies through the rule of democratically-made laws.
Technological platforms of #communication should never attempt to rule over the content, but merely abide by the laws of whatever democratic countries their infrastructure resides in.
The mistake is now repeated in #Mastodon with the censorship of a number of discussion subjects.
It is a grave shortcoming.

@AndersBaerbock Well, have you complained? I would actually agree with the removal of the post. I do actually see it as possibly transphobic. I think moderation is a good thing. Maybe write in more direct terms. Be more specific about the realation to hygene. Hope you have a good day.

It is banned «homophobia, transphobia», which sounds reasonable. Nevertheless, in practice, anyone who expresses something not in line with the world-view of the moderators of Mastodon gets censored.
Thus, for instance, some months ago I posted «If you can pee standing upright because you have a penis then you go into the men's bathroom» —which is clearly related to hygiene in a public space and makes no assumptions— and that post got censored.
