In the mid 80s my dad would often take his 10yr old son to work with him. He ran a carpet installation business so that meant a kid playing/ entertaining himself in a customer's house while my dad installed the carpet.
It's so hard to imagine that flying these days.
A few years earlier my mom was finishing college and would often take him to class with her.
General flexibility around childcare has ratcheted down so tight over recent decades.
