    Question on #Japanese:

    Usually people with higher status get the 上 kanji, as in 母上 (haha-ue = mother above) and 父上 (chichi-ue = father above).

    So why is "your majesty" written as 陛下 (throne + below)? Is this an exception, or are there other words like this?
